Vase Collection
During the production of this ceremic vase collection, I focused on developing a work ethic within a certain material. I worked out everything by hand, without the use of any tools. Next to this I gave myself a time limit per vase, just enough to make sure that every piece of clay was attached firmly enough, but keeping the raw handmade gestures in the material.
Because of the short time per vase, the clay was still wet and heavy, it started to deform, the clay folding over itself, and thus creating its own shapes and forms, while I continued building the objects. This led to unexpected outcomes. To accompany these unexpected shapes the clay set to, I combined and layered different types of glazes together and airbrushed these onto the vases. Resulting into surprising colors and patterns.
